How to Do A Tire Rotation

Whether you are hoping to learn how to rotate tires at home in your Moultrie driveway, or you choose to bring your Nissan into our Valdosta Nissan tire center, here’s the process you and our service center experts will follow for a proper rotation:

  1. Engage your parking brake
  2. Remove hubcaps or wheel covers on all four wheels
  3. Loosen the lug nuts on all four wheels in a star-pattern. Don’t take them all the way off yet.
  4. Jack up the wheels with a car jack, placing the jack stand underneath it in the proper location.
  5. Remove all four tires
  6. Place tires in new position according to your vehicle’s drivetrain
  7. Place the tires back onto the wheel mount. Screw the lug nuts on by hand as far as you can.
  8. Lower the car from the jack stands
  9. Use the lug wrench to finish tightening the nuts, again in a star-pattern.
  10. Ensure tires are filled to the proper PSI
  11. That’s how to do a tire rotation right at your Thomasville home!

How to Do A Tire Rotation: Proper Rotation Pattern

As mentioned above, your tire rotation pattern is determined by your vehicle’s drivetrain. Here’s how to rotate tires accordingly:

  • FWD: Move the front tires to the back of the car in the same left/right positions. Move the rear tires to the front, switching the right and left tire.
  • RWD: Move the rear tires to the front of the car in the same left/right positions, but when you move the front tires to the rear, switch the left and right.
  • AWD: Simply rotate in an X-pattern: right rear to left front, left rear to right front, and vice versa.
